Staff commuting emissions aren't traditionally included in an organisation’s carbon footprint, but when assessed are often found to have a very significant impact. This tool includes a staff survey of travel habits, and a calculator to quantify the carbon impacts of staff commuting. Click here to find out how the tool works

Click here to access a survey which you can circulate with colleagues. The survey does not collect any personal details and should take no more than 5 minutes to complete.

Once you have completed your colleague survey upload your spreadsheet (.xlsx) file here.
This will calculate yearly mileage by your staff per mode of transport, as well as the overall carbon emissions associated with staff commutes.

If you receive an error message when uploading your file, please ensure that the file name is unique to your business or organisation and that it does not contain any special characters, such as brackets. To do this, open the file and 'save as’ to rename the spreadsheet. E.g. ‘Zero Waste Scotland Commuter Survey (Copy)’ will need to be changed to ‘Your Business Name’.
